Food and Trees for Africa

Russell and Associates branches out

At the end of 2008, Russell and Associates decided that, rather than spending money on just another corporate gift, it would be more in keeping with the spirit of Christmas to ensure that this year-end cheer would benefit people in need.

As a result, on 8 May 2009, the company donated 50 trees to the labour-sending area of Kwazakhele just outside Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. The donation was made through Food and Trees for Africa, www.trees.co.za.

In 2010, Russell and Associates donated funds to Food and Trees for Africa’s Permaculture project. Permaculture is a radical approach to food production which produces more energy than it uses and recycles all nutrients and waste. Since permaculture entails the use of available natural resources, it is affordable, even to poor communities. With the continual rise in food prices, it is more important than ever before that people are able to grow their own food while sustaining the environment.

Russell and Associates, a firm advocate of sustainable development, is proud to support this worthy cause.
